Spectators

Become a Race Fan of the Running Kind

Let the runners feel the thrill of the Speedway by entering back on their final lap and be greeted with the same enthusiasm from the fans that would be there on any given Sunday. We recommend the following Spectator Spots

  • Anywhere around the inside track of Speedway where they will run the first 2.5 miles and then come back for the last mile.
  • Just outside the tunnel at Turn 3 which corresponds to mile 2.75 and 10

Spectator Tips

Being a spectator and a cheerleader for your favorite runner is a great way to be part of this event!  And just as the runners take the time to prepare for this event, you can also prepare and plan ahead for a memorable experience:

  • Review the course map and plan your route. With 4,000 runners, it may be difficult, and at sometimes, impossible, to cross the course during the race, even on foot
  • Know your runner’s expected pace per mile so you will know when he or she will be at the different locations on the course
  • Move around on bicycle or skates (minding all street closures) and surprise your runner at different locations on the route
  • Make sure you bring a beach chair or blanket, horns, signs and a great attitude to have fun and become a cheerleader
